Spring Hill Garden, 2010
The original garden was predominately lawn with lawn verges. The brief established the removal of lawn in favour of native gardens with compacted rubble access paths. Terracing was created with existing and imported stone to reduce water runoff and allow practical access to new gardens and existing services.
To offset the impact of the western summer sun a series of low, open canopy mallee gums have been planted to provide protection for the house and garden but still afford views from upper storey windows to the neighbouring creek and parkland corridor.
